Ours includes The New York Women’s Foundation. They recently celebrated 25 years of helping women with a dinner buffet, dessert reception and awards ceremony.  Connie Chung played host and the event included an original performance by Tony Award® winning playwright and performer, Sarah Jones. We weren’t planning to be impressed but we were! The benefit honored cute couples with big hearts;  Soledad O’Brien & Brad Raymond and Ginny & Sean Day. Fashion moments? Quite a few including Soledad’s strappy Stuart Weitzman shoes.

Well now you do.  Since we make it a habit to only attend the best events we only attended the Rootstein opening.

Rootstein was founded in 1959 by a South African window dresser living in London named Adel Rootstein. Adel’s industry fix was cast mannequins from youthful models like Twiggy.

In the 21st century creative director, Kevin Arpino has assumed leadership, bringing Rootstein’s collections to whats been described as theatrical and occasionally controversial. Each season Mr. Arpino reveals a collection of new “models” dressed in fabulous fashions. This season did not disappoint. For more pictures visit Rockthelook on facebook.

We loved Aruna Seth bridal shoes. Their sassy take on shoes for the bride included a blue bedazzled wedge with a union jack.

We asked a few industry professionals about the impact of last year’s royal wedding on the bridal industry. The prevailing thought is that the lovely, regal yet understated event reminded us all of the beauty of tradition. Modesty and classic elegance never go out of style.

This weekend Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are getting married in Italy. You may not have a celebrity budget but we wanted to share our bridal tips from this past week’s New York Bridal show.

We discovered Leila Hafzi a bridal designer from Norway. The designer is focused on ethical treatment of women. Leila business is a platform for this message as she provides work for tailors and seamstresses in Nepal. You may have seen Leila’s designs during the Cannes Film festival worn by Journalist Linn Ullman, wore 5 different gowns designed by Leila.

According to Bridal industry insiders the trend this year is back to tradition. You will see more lace and less skin than seasons past. For more images from the show visit our facebook page.

What brought us together? Both lovely ladies share a Polish heritage and of course we all love fashion and great accessories.
While we talked fashion, we enjoyed the Fuji Apple Salad and the BLT Chopped Salad. I increased my Polish vocabulary and discovered a great place in Williamsburg to get Polish sausage.

Zuzanna was rocking her  “Dew drop” hobo bag in Anaconda.  If you hurry you can get one of the few left at www.bottica.com … Joanna’s collection can be purchased on www.joannamaxham.com I am still in love with my Joanna Maxham Castaway in cranberry but I have my eye on the Castaway in mystery black.

A fraction of its original $500 price. We paired it with a blue BCBG sweater and metallic mules by Calvin Klein. We added a chunky statement necklace by LOFT.

A few weeks later we attended a press event for British Designers. So it was only fitting to wear our favorite Alexander McQueen blazer with the skirt. We added a a grey silk top and pops of black with our belt and patent leather shoes.

The ENCOUNTER Calvin Klein global launch was celebratedwith actor Alexander Skarsgård. As you know Alexander is the face of the brand’s advertising campaign. The launch event was hosted by Calvin Klein Collection’s Men’s Creative Director, Italo Zucchelli, at the McKittrick Hotel’s new rooftop garden bar, Gallow Green, in New York City.

Celebrities in attendance were wardrobed by the Calvin Klein Collection. This included Mr. Skarsgård, actresses Olivia Wildeand Nora Zehetner, as well as Bip Ling and Olivia Chantecaille.
